JANUARY 5-6
📍 PER-KUL
Last night Isis, Shari, and I arrived at Perth airport to fly to KL. After a long, sleepless, and rocky journey, we arrived safely at 5:45 with a wave of humidity hitting us. We got our suitcases, sim cards, and breakfast. I also saw a humorous sign in the airport bathroom.

We ‘grab’bed a taxi to head straight to Millerz Square where we are staying for the duration of our time. The taxi ride felt like we were playing Mario kart, with not a single person indicating, our driver tailgating the people in front of us, and merging in between two trucks that were so close together. On top of that, he kept drifting off to sleep!

Aside from the fact that we felt as if we were going to crash at any moment, the car ride was enjoyable. The landscape was so different and exciting, in juxtaposition to Perth’s flat landscape, with plenty of tropical plants, hills, and long roads. We also got to look at all the nice expensive cars speeding ahead of us in the next lane.

Thankfully we arrived at our apartment and got ourselves comfortable, swimming in the rooftop pool and checking out the gardens. We also went grocery shopping at The Pearl, being amazed by the noodle and snacks aisle. I was particularly amused at the Coles cookies they had on sale. All in all, it was a great day to test out the waters before entering the city and to catch up on sleep.

We also watched the sunset over our balcony. It was beautiful. 🌟
