JANUARY 17

📍 DASEIN ACADEMY & NU SENTRAL

Today we discussed our project plan. I saw the mock-ups from the Dasein students, which looked incredible.

I found out that our idea was a table, which looked like the Klang. On the table, there are bowls, where you place rubbish. Each bowl will represent different types of recyclable material. If you put rubbish in the right spot, the river will light up.

However, when we received feedback from the Dasein teachers, it was a mixed reaction. Most at first were confused, however, when we explained it more they understood.

Cheksant gave us advice: if we can’t describe it in a sentence, then maybe it is too confusing. If it is too confusing to explain, the users will ignore it as it's too hard to understand.

Therefore we changed our idea, despite our lack of time, as at this point, it was almost the end of the day.

Our new idea is a fish that will work as an art installation, to encourage people to recycle.

Each gill is a bin for a particular item that needs to be recycled including general waste, soft plastics, etc.

Our new target audience is children, as we believe that if we encourage and teach children to recycle, they’ll encourage their parents and grandparents - the older generations who are stuck in their old attitudes.
